TOMMASO CASCELLA

The artist hails from a great dynasty of artists who, generation after generation, have all played an important role in both the Italian and European history of art starting from the 19th century until today. Tommaso Cascella’s works include a variety of medium such as painting and sculpture, printmaking and ceramic. Strongly bound to his historical iconography and art making the artist constantly experiments with new languages that express his belief in art as a non imitative form of representation through an extensive use of materials and colours. His composition, ranging from large-scale to miniature works, are in fact organized according to contrasting geometrical volumes that result into an original and unique formula that synthesize sculptural and pictorial values. In such a way, the artist produces three-dimensional paintings or light sculptures as gestures, that  rhythmically move in the space, as an alchemic alphabet that generates a peculiar narrative language based on contamination where sight becomes sense of touch
